Baker, Michael A., Vice President,
Business Development, VBrick Systems, Inc., Wallingford, CT.
Baker is the newly appointed Vice
President for Business Development at VBrick Systems, Inc. Baker will
create, develop and manage expansion and business relationships in the
Education and Healthcare (Telemedicine) Markets in North America.
Prior to joining VBrick Systems,
Inc., he served as Worldwide Vice President of Vertical Markets for
Polycom Inc, for sales and marketing into Education, Healthcare and
State and Local Governments.
He has been Director of International
Sales and National Sales Manager at ParkerVision, manufacturer of the
CameraMan tracking systems for Distance Learning
Classrooms.
Mr. Baker was National Manager for
Education Markets and New Technologies at Panasonic Broadcast and Television
Systems Company. While at Panasonic he headed sales efforts into the
Education markets while introducing new products in laser disc technologies
and teleconferencing.
Baker also worked for Sony Corporation
of America as a Government Marketing Manager for the Southeast Region.
While at Panasonic and Sony, he was recognized for Sales and Leadership
achievements.
He has been a Producer/Director of "live" sports programs
and “live” Concerts as well as a General Manager of a Television
Production company in Atlanta.
Mr. Baker is Chairman Emeritus with
Portfolio of the United States Distance Learning Association and has
volunteered his time in that organization for the past 12 years. He
has served as President and Chairman of the Board of U.S.D.L.A. and
has played an integral part in the success of the organization.
Mr. Baker is Chairman of the Board
of the International Internet Learning Association, a member of the
Board of Industry Advisors for the American Telemedicine Association,
a member of the Congressional Internet Caucus, the Association for Educational
Communications and Technology, the Instructional Technology Council,
the Association of Colleges and University Telecommunications Administrators,
the National Association of State Technical Directors and the International
Television Association. He has volunteered eight years in youth football
and softball programs and served as President of the Pop Warner program
in Marietta, Georgia. He has been honored as an Outstanding Young Man
in America, he is a recipient of the Freedom's Foundation award for
Directing/Producing the United States Army's Bi-Centennial Salute to
America, and is a recipient of the George Foster Peabody Award for a
Television Production produced by the Southern Center for International
Studies.
Mr. Baker has been inducted into
the Teleconferencing Hall of Fame and the United States Distance Learning
Association Hall of Fame. He is listed in the Who’s Who of Distance
Learning and Business. He is an International Fellow (International
Fellow of the Year – 2000) at the Center for Information and Communications
Sciences at Ball State University and a member of the Board of Directors
at the Institute for Telecommunications at Oklahoma State University.
Mr Baker is also an advisor to the President of Gallaudet University
in Washington, D.C.
He is a graduate of the University
of Georgia.
