Reggie Smith III currently serves as the Manager of Advanced Distributed
Learning (ADL) and Training Transformation (T2) for Booz Allen Hamilton,
Inc. In his current capacity he provides thought leadership and strategic
planning in the area of T2 and ADL for the National Guard Bureau.
Prior positions include Deputy Director
of Learning Technologies, Vice President of Operations, Program Manager
of Enterprise Managed Videoconferencing Services, Manager (National
Guard Support) of Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Co-Lab, Assistant
Manager of Network Operations (GuardNetXXI), Videoconferencing Network
Engineer, Videoconferencing Manager & Satellite Traffic Manager.
Smith is the recipient of numerous
awards and commendations, including: the Action Hero’s Award from
the Missouri Association of Community Task Forces (MoACT), the TeleCon’s
Best Live Special Event Satellite Broadcast Award as well as the ELLI
(e-Learning Industry) Award. In 1993, he also received a letter of commendation
from then-N.Y. Mayor David Dinkins for supplying emergency programming
during the asbestos crisis in N.Y. city schools.
A recognized authority on media and telecommunications issues, he has
served as presenter, keynote and/or judge at the VIRTUAL EDUCA International
Conference, the e-Learning Conference & Expo, the TeleCon East,
West & European Expos, the Technology 2010 Conference, the Third
& Fourth Annual Youth Summits, the 22nd Black Media Coalition’s
Conference, the 23rd Annual Pacific Telecommunications Council Conference,
the 2003 Excellence in e-Learning Awards, the 17th Annual Local CableAce
Awards, the Montgomery County Public School Media Festival, the State
of Maryland School Media Competition as well as at a host of others.
He is a member of the Society of
Satellite Professionals International (SSPI), the United States Distance
Learning Association (USDLA), the Project Management Institute (PMI),
and currently serving as president and chair for the Government Special
Interest Group for the Washington Metropolitan Distance Learning Association
(WMDLA) (www.wmdla.com).
Smith, who has a bachelor’s
degree in English/Communications from Lincoln University in PA, and
a master’s degree in International Management from the University
of Maryland University College, has been featured and profiled in several
national magazines, including: Black Enterprise, the Year in Computing,
Videoconferencing Insight, Profiles, the Achiever and Teleconference
magazines. A contributor to Web Techniques magazine, he currently serves
as contributing editor for Learning & Training Innovations Magazine
formally e-Learning Magazine and is working on his first book, Simple
Things for Brilliant People.
