USDLA
Welcomes New Officers and Directors,
Organizations 2001
Annual Meeting
Anaheim, CA October
23, 2001 The United
States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) members welcomed
new officers and members to the Board of Directors today at
the organizations annual meeting in Anaheim, California.
The meeting is held in conjunction with the TeleCon Conference,
held at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Marhall E. Allen
is the new Chairman of the USDLA Board of Directors. Mr. Allen
served as USDLA President for the past year. He is presently
the Director of the Institute for Telecommunications at Oklahoma
State University, Stillwater, OK.
Jolly T. Holden
is Chariman Emeritus for the coming year. Dr. Holden served
as Chairman of the USDLA Board of Directors for the past year.
He is the Senior Projects Manager for Training and Development
at Starband Communications, Inc. in Marietta, GA.
The Associations
new President is Glenda Mathis, who served as USDLAs
Executive Vice President/President Elect for the past year.
Mathis is President of Springboard Communication in Abilene,
Texas a media company providing video production, web design,
animation and other multimedia services.
The Executive Vice
President and President-Elect for 2002 is Dr. Philip J.-L.
Westfall, who previously served as USDLAs Senior Vice
President for State Chapters. Dr. Westfall is the Director
of the Air Technology Network for the Air Force Institute
for Advanced Distributed Leaning at Wright-Patterson Air Force
Base in Ohio.
James E. Vautrot
will continue to serve as USDLAs Treasurer for the coming
year. Vautrot is President and CEO of BAF Satellite &
Technology Corporation, a provider of satellite services and
advanced technology applications for broadcast, corporate,
governmental and educational clients.
USLDAs Secretary
is Dr. Deborah A. Harrison. Dr. Harrison is also the Regional
Marketing and Sales Director for VTEL Corporation and is the
Past-President of the Texas Distance Learning Association
and Chairperson of the USDLA Awards Committee.
Ms. Mary Anne Havriluk
in addition to being a new member of the USDLA Board of Directors
will serve as the new Senior Vice President for Chapters.
Ms. Havriluk is the Vice President of Business Development
at LearnSomething.com in Tallahassee, FL. Ms. Havriluk is
the Past-President of the Florida Distance Learning Association.
The new members
of the USDLA Board of Directors include Paul R. Bardack, Esquire
of Booz.Allen & Hamilton where he is the Distance Learning
Task Manager for Non- Profit and Federal Partnerships located
in McLean, VA, Dr. Richard T. Hezel, President of Hezel Associates,
Syracuse NY, Dr. Don Olcott, Jr., Senior Higher Education
Consultant of D. J. Olcott & Associates in Tucson, AZ,
Dr. Pamela S. Pease, President of Jones International University
in Englewood, CO and Dr. Brian L. Talbott, Executive Director
of the Association of Educational Services Agencies in Arlington,
VA.
Other current board
members re-elected include Michael Baker, Vice President of
Polycom, Gainesville, GA, Dr. Darcy W. Hardy, Assistant Vice
Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Texas
Systems, Arlene Krebs, President of New Orbit Communications,
Seaside, CA and Dr. Henry Payne, Director of the Office of
Training and Education for the U.S. Department of Labor.

Dr. John G. Flores
serves as the Executive Director of the United States Distance
Learning Association. USDLA is a non-profit organization,
founded in 1987, and will celebrate its 15th Anniversary in
2002, as the leading organization serving the distance learning
community. The USDLA promotes the development and application
of distance learning for education and training. USDLA represents
nearly 2500 members involved with pre-K through 12 education,
higher education, continuing education, home schooling, corporate
training, telemedicine and military and government training.
