California - Coastline Community College

 

PRESIDENT, COASTLINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Full-time, contract, 12-month per year educational administrator position reporting to the Chancellor of the Coast Community College District.

Location: COASTLINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Start Date: July 1, 2002

Professional Experience: Experience which demonstrates the ability to:

Provide vision and leadership.

Foster an environment, which assists students in achieving their educational goals.

Promote excellence in academic offerings and student support services.

Promote innovative leadership in the areas of educational technology, marketing, and distance education.

Facilitate and work effectively within a participatory governance environment.

Effectively evaluate the administration and staff of the college in order to enhance and strengthen the achievements of the institution.

Serve as an advocate for the college and as a member of the District Chancellor's Cabinet working in a team environment to promote harmony and cooperation among the various District units.

Understand, organize, and implement sound fiscal management.

Communicate effectively, written and oral.

Foster an environment, which promotes professional growth for all employees.

Understand and encourage college programs relating to academic development, workforce development, and contract and career education.

Encourage and support diversity in the student body and in the hiring of administrators, faculty and staff.

Demonstrate experience in fostering collaborative relationships with local schools, communities, businesses, agencies, and the community at large.

Provide strong leadership to the college foundation.

Understand and promote the concepts of distributed and distance education.

Encourage creativity in delivery systems for a diverse student population.

Be sensitive to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic background of community college employees and students.

Performance Responsibilities:

The President is responsible to the Chancellor and the District Board of Trustees for:

Implementing policies adopted by the Board of Trustees.

Providing impetus through leadership and creativity for the development of educational programs, student support services, resources, and facilities.

Maintaining effective communication among students, faculty, administrative and classified staff, and the communities served by the college.

Coordination and implementing administrative and instructional procedures developed by cooperative efforts of administration, faculty, and staff.

Participating in local community activities.

Representing the college to state and local entities dealing with community college issues.

Providing direction to the Coastline Foundation to achieve private fundraising objectives.

Education and Experience:

The successful candidate will possess the following:

A Master's degree form an accredited institution and one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment.

OR

Possession of the California Community College Administrative Credential.

OR

The combination of education and experience that is at least equivalent to the above. (Candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit an Equivalency Determination Form in addition to all other required materials.)

Three years of senior level administrative experience at the collegiate level.

College-level classroom teaching experience.

Desirable Qualifications:

Possession of an earned doctorate from an accredited institution.

At least three years full-time classroom teaching experience, preferably at the collegiate level.

Salary and Fringe Benefits:

A multi-year contract will be offered with the current annual salary at $123,995 plus a monthly mileage allowance of $167. In addition, an annual stipend of $2,078 is offered for possession of an earned doctorate. Annual vacation includes twenty-five days, plus two additional days to be used at spring holiday. Fringe benefits include fully paid dental and vision care plans for employees and dependents, and life insurance and income protection plans for employees. A variety of medical plans covering employees and dependents are available, with the District paying the major portion of the cost.

A District application form must be completed and submitted with any other required materials no later than the published deadline date.
