Faculty Position, Statewide Center for E-learning
Northern State University invites applications for a
tenure-track position in the newly created Center for Statewide E-learning.
Academic rank is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
The Center, recently approved by the South Dakota Board of
Regents, will be a leader in the development and integration of multi-media and
distance education technologies throughout the university curriculum.
Candidates for these positions should have a terminal degree or be within one
year of completion. The successful
candidate must possess accomplished technology skills in a multi-media distance
education environment and have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and
graduate teaching. Technical expertise in two or more of the following areas is
required: web site design and development; computer programming;
Internet-related languages such as JavaScript, Java, Perl, HTML, or XML; and/or
videoconferencing and telecommunications. The position will be housed in the
Center for Statewide E-learning, but it is expected that the faculty member
will hold academic rank in one of the university's four college/schools; Arts
and Sciences, Business, Education, or Fine Arts. Teaching assignments will include technology-based courses
for the new undergraduate and graduate programs in e-learning designed to
prepare distance education specialists and technical support personnel for
businesses and K-12 through university institutions.
Northern State University is located in Aberdeen, SD,
population 30,000. The institution is classified as a Carnegie MA I,
multi-purpose four year and graduate university. NSU has invested significantly in a superior technology
infrastructure and has devoted considerable resources toward faculty training
and development in integrating technology into teaching and learning.

qualifications for the position, a resume, a list of three or more references
with phone numbers and e-mail addresses, and copies of graduate transcripts.

positions are filled.
