POSITION AVAILABLE

Northern State University, South Dakota

Faculty Position, Statewide Center for E-learning

Northern State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the newly created Center for Statewide E-learning. Academic rank is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

The Center, recently approved by the South Dakota Board of Regents, will be a leader in the development and integration of multi-media and distance education technologies throughout the university curriculum. Candidates for these positions should have a terminal degree or be within one year of completion.  The successful candidate must possess accomplished technology skills in a multi-media distance education environment and have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching. Technical expertise in two or more of the following areas is required: web site design and development; computer programming; Internet-related languages such as JavaScript, Java, Perl, HTML, or XML; and/or videoconferencing and telecommunications. The position will be housed in the Center for Statewide E-learning, but it is expected that the faculty member will hold academic rank in one of the university's four college/schools; Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, or Fine Arts.  Teaching assignments will include technology-based courses for the new undergraduate and graduate programs in e-learning designed to prepare distance education specialists and technical support personnel for businesses and K-12 through university institutions.

Northern State University is located in Aberdeen, SD, population 30,000. The institution is classified as a Carnegie MA I, multi-purpose four year and graduate university.  NSU has invested significantly in a superior technology infrastructure and has devoted considerable resources toward faculty training and development in integrating technology into teaching and learning.

Applications are to include a letter outlining the qualifications for the position, a resume, a list of three or more references with phone numbers and e-mail addresses, and copies of graduate transcripts. Consideration of applications will begin May 11, 2002 and continue until the positions are filled.
