Distance Learning Specialist
Office of Open Learning
One or Two-Year Contract
Reporting to the Director, the Distance Learning Specialist works collaboratively with course authors (University faculty and sessionals) to develop distance education courses that are learner-centered and interactive. The successful incumbent will provide advice and guidance to course authors regarding teaching strategies, learning activities, assessment mechanisms and the integration of appropriate learning technologies. As well, the incumbent would work closely with personnel in the Office of Open Learning to design and develop course-specific and generic student support materials (manuals, readers, videotapes, audiotapes, CD-ROMS, course websites, etc.) and ensure that theses are completed on time and according to specifications.
Requirements of the position include:
- Master's degree and several years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, project management, time management and interpersonal skills;
- Good computer and word processing skills and understanding of Internet and World Wide Web and related software as well as an ability to work well under pressure.
Excellent understanding of the principles of pedagogy, adult education, distance education, instructional technologies and course design;
Normal Hiring Range: $39,794 - $45,763 CDN
