Instructional Technology Specialist:
Distance Learning Network & Center for Teaching & Learning

The University of Vermont seeks an enthusiastic and team-oriented faculty member to join the Distance Learning Network in the Division of Continuing Education to work with a diverse group of faculty and staff professionals in creating and delivering academic courses to dispersed audiences using digital technology. Working as an integral part of the University's Center for Teaching and Learning, this individual, through both a formal curriculum and individual consultation will energetically advance the University's use of digital media as a teaching environment.

Working with faculty from across the campus, the instructional technology specialist will participate in the design and delivery of an ongoing program of faculty training and development which includes identification of needs, identification and selection of resources appropriate to address those needs, individual development and delivery of workshops, and dissemination of information and materials that in sum will increase faculty comfort with and use of educational technology for both resident and non-resident students. In addition, the specialist will provide consultation and hands on expertise to faculty and staff in the development and conversion of specific courses and course sequences into electronic media. Through the application of instructional design expertise and project management skills, and through the use of various authoring and production software, the special  will integrate the work of the faculty member, the resources of the lab and its staff, the instructional needs and limits of the client or intended audience in a manner that results in an educational project or product of the highest quality.

Qualifications: Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred. Master's degree and 4 years of experience in curriculum design, digital media, and project management required. Experience teaching in an on-line environment strongly desired. Knowledge of HTML, Java and JavaScript, Visual Basic, Flash, PhotoShop, and knowledge of multiple LMS and appropriate application software also desired. Excellent communications skills analytic and planning abilities a must.
