Expert in use of new technologies and “new media” for education and entertainment programming; former president/current board member of Alliance for Distance Education in California (ADEC); California State Representative to the U.S. Distance Learning Association. (USDLA); telecommunication regulation and legislation at federal, state and local levels of government. Facilitates public/private partnerships for advancement of non-traditional communications initiatives. Manages operations and strategic planning for DHTV, the television and broadcast service of CSUDH, including supervision of production and distribution of 25-30 hours of live broadcasting each week with simultaneous worldwide webcasting. Extensive experience in media development including radio, satellite/broadcast /cable/television, and the Internet. Van has worked to help develop cable networks and interactive training and marketing programs for education, government and Fortune 500 clients over the span of a more than 30 year career in media creation and development.
